Larnaca's eating areas each do something different. The Finikoudes seafront is where you go for the view and the walk, and it is busiest in the evening. Ermou Street and the old town lanes behind it hold the smaller independent places and the coffee culture. Mackenzie is the beach strip, best in the late afternoon. Pyla and the villages around the city are where you find the larger family tavernas and grill houses with parking. If you are eating meze for the first time, order it for the table and stop ordering anything else — it keeps arriving until you say stop.

In July and August, and on Friday and Saturday evenings year-round, yes — particularly on the seafront. Outside those times most places will find you a table, though the good village tavernas fill up on Sundays.
